Clinical Focus

Dr. Ulmer is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with a primary interest in treating disorders of the knee and shoulder. His special interests include arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, and trauma/fractures. He also has undertaken advanced training in sports medicine.

Education & Training

After earning his medical degree from Stanford University in California, Dr. Ulmer went on to complete his orthopedic residency at Oregon Health and Science University, and the internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Patient Care Philosophy

“My goal is to offer quality medical care to injured athletes, from the recreation to the elite level. I also seek to offer the same level of care for virtually all knee and shoulder injuries or degenerative conditions resulting from an accident or work-related event. I aim to help patients achieve the earliest-possible return to full function through education, prescription or therapeutic exercise, and appropriate surgical intervention when indicated.”
