About The Provider
Board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist Matthew Cain, MD, FHRS, is dedicated to helping patients with difficult to treat cardiac conditions by providing procedures and therapies to significantly improve their quality of life.
As a cardiac electrophysiologist, a key area of focus is diagnosing and treating heart rhythm conditions, which is when a patient’s heart beats too fast or too slow. After diagnosis, patients may require a pacemaker, cardiac ablation, defibrillation and possibly medication.
Dr. Cain has extensive medical education and training, plus multiple post-graduate certifications. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia followed by an internship and residency in internal medicine from the University of Chicago. He went on to complete fellowships in cardiovascular disease and cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.
Today he is certified in cardiac disease and cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS). During his career he also has served as a clinical instructor at the University of Chicago and a medical director at a Dallas-based hospital system. Additionally, he has published his work in peer-reviewed journals and presented at medical meetings.
Dr. Cain feels great reward and satisfaction from the positive impact he is able to provide patients on a day-to-day basis, often with immediate results.
When not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, as well as skiing, hiking, golfing and taking his children on new adventures.
