About The Provider
Luis Mariscal, MD, MBA, is board-certified (American Board of Radiology) in radiation oncology and practices at the Adventist Health AIS Cancer Center in downtown Bakersfield. He is conversationally bilingual (English/Spanish). Dr. Mariscal's practice focuses on using high-energy radiation beams to treat cancers of all types. He specializes in advanced radiation techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
Dr. Mariscal has a special interest in cancers of the central nervous system, lung cancer, cancers of the head and neck, prostate cancer, and breast cancer. He has presented at numerous cancer conferences and has received several cancer research awards.
"Learning you have cancer turns your world upside down," said Dr. Mariscal. "My goal is to help patients understand their diagnosis, and to figure out the very best multidisciplinary approach to treating and curing their cancer."
Dr. Mariscal believes fighting cancer means not just treating the diagnosis, but the whole person. He chose radiation oncology while on rotation in medical school.
Dr. Mariscal is a native Californian and was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is excited to be part of the Bakersfield community and bring world-class university-level care to Kern County.
