About Leila Moosavi

About The Provider

Leila Moosavi, MD, is a double board-certified internal medicine and addiction medicine physician, academic leader, and published researcher with a passion for providing expert, compassionate care during life’s most critical moments. She believes great medicine requires both sharp clinical insight and human connection—qualities she brings to every patient interaction.

Dr. Moosavi currently serves as the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Adventist Health Bakersfield. A dedicated educator, she holds a faculty appointment as Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Her practice focuses on primary care for medically complex patients, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic disease, and barriers to care. She is also actively involved in advancing patient safety, wellness, and research, having contributed to more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications and had contributions to clinical reference texts in StatPearls.

Fluent in English, Farsi, and Turkish/Azeri, Dr. Moosavi draws on her multilingual and multicultural background to provide inclusive, culturally responsive care. At home, she and her husband, also a physician, are joyfully navigating life with their twin toddlers and four beloved pets, including a spirited rescue kitten.
