About The Provider

James Ivy Boyd, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine with Scripps Health in San Diego where he treated several professional athletes with the Padres baseball team and Chargers football team as well as many recreational athletes. He takes great satisfaction in caring for professional and recreational athletes of all ages.

Dr. Boyd earned a bachelor of science in biochemistry from Pacific Union College and earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic residency at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Boyd also served four years in the United States Navy, practicing general orthopedics at the Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, California. After completing his service with the Navy Dr. Boyd completed his sports medicine fellowship at Scripps. He has been practicing in Sonora since 2011.

    Dr. Boyd told me from the very beginning that he was unsure if he was going to be able to repair the massive rotator cuff tear. Before surgery, he stopped by to talk to me and I told him that a lot of people were praying for him and the outcome of my surgery. He told me he was praying too! That brought a lot of comfort to my anxious heart. So grateful!

    Only saw Dr. For about 4 min. Dr.'s notes on portal did not match what he told me; in particular the paragraph on dicussing injections. This did not occur; boiler plate comments? Oniy thing he really said was "I don't operate on anyone yor age". Thanks for the ecersise instructions, but I already got some from my GP. So, thanks for nothing. I'll go back to my prevous Ortho. Office
