About The Provider
Dr. Cara Eberhardt specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with substance use disorders. She offers medication and office-based behavioral interventions for opioid, alcohol, benzodiazepine, and stimulant use disorders. She also enjoys helping patients quit smoking and coordinating care with other providers and community support.
While a new specialist, Dr. Eberhardt is not new to our team and our community as she spent three years with us as a resident and then spent a year pursuing her fellowship after she graduated.
Dr. Eberhardt grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, but moved across the country at 18 to pursue her undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in psychology. She then attended University of California San Francisco to obtain her medical degree. During that time, she was inspired by Family Medicine and rural places seemed to be where the specialty thrived, thus sparking her interest in rural practice. Then she chose Ukiah Valley's Family Residency program after she fell in love with the community.
After residency, Dr. Eberhardt went on to pursue a fellowship in addiction medicine at University of California - Davis. Even before graduation from residency, she knew she would come back to Ukiah Valley.
Aside from caring for patients in the outpatient setting, Dr. Eberhardt also sees patients in the hospital with substance use disorders, with the goal of building on the existing program with our Substance Use Navigators and support continuity between the hospital, the clinic, and the community to help patients start treatment as soon as possible.
Aside from treating patients suffering from alcohol and drug use disorders, Dr. Eberhardt also cares patients of all ages as a family medicine specialist, treating chronic and complex conditions such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes and providing preventive care, including annual physical exams.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Eberhardt enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, seeking out hot springs, thrifting, farmer’s markets and yard sales.
