Ashley Schwass, PA-C

Ashley Schwass, PA-C, recently joined Dr. Hengbing Wang and our exceptional team at our Cancer and Infusion Center.
Ashley comes to us from the Bay Area and brings over eight years of experience caring for patients as a physician assistant.
Prior to coming to Mendocino County, Ashley cared for patients in the Emergency Department and in Urgent Care centers in the Bay Area, diagnosing and treating a variety of acute medical illnesses and injuries. Most recently, she cared for patients at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Department. In November of last year, wanting to be closer to family, they made the move to Ukiah.
Choosing a career in healthcare was a conscious choice for Ashley, inspired by her own experiences growing up. Her father passed away due to cancer when she was 12 years old, an experience that would impact her life. “I was always interested in medicine, having been exposed to healthcare at an early age with my dad’s battle with cancer. I saw the nurses and doctors who cared for him, and I promised to do the same and help make a difference in the lives of others someday.”
She says the opportunity to build relationships and ability to provide the full continuum of care are what she loves the most. “Being in the ER or urgent care, you don’t get the opportunity to spend time and get to know the patients. It’s a one-time interaction, a different dynamic. With the clinic, we’re able to really take care of them and see them through. Cancer can be a difficult journey but having that relationship and trust with your care team, makes a difference.”
She looks forward to working with her team and building relationships with patients as well as expanding her knowledge and experience.
